The name of the ministry is inspired from the New Testament Book of Philemon. Onesimus, a runaway slave became a follower of Jesus Christ through the ministry of the Apostle Paul. Following his conversion, Paul wrote a letter on behalf of Onesimus, entreating his former master Philemon to accept him back into the community, not as a slave, but as a brother in Christ. The name Onesimus is a Greek word meaning ” useful, beneficial and profitable ” .
Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.
